The challenge.

Japex Automotive is an independent servicing specialist in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire, covering MOT, general service, EV work and specialist engine tuning across most makes and models. Independent garages live or die by local reputation and digital discoverability — customers typically decide within the space of a single postcode search, often from a mobile phone, often within minutes of a warning light coming on. If the garage does not appear quickly, with credibility, in those moments, the booking goes elsewhere.

The commercial challenge was sharp. Japex needed to compete against dealership service departments and national chains on discoverability across the Kings Langley and wider Hertfordshire catchment, while communicating the technical depth and trust that an independent specialist can offer but rarely communicates well online. The visual category was working against them: clip-art logos, generic stock imagery, "we service all makes" taglines, and websites that read as templates. Customer reassurance had to be built quickly and clearly.

Stage 02 of 03

The approach.

High-resolution brand and marketing photography was commissioned on-site at the workshop — real customer vehicles, real working bays, real technicians at work — replacing the generic imagery that dominates the automotive servicing category. The shoot covered hero brand frames, service-line specifics (MOT, EV servicing, diagnostics, tuning) and behind-the-scenes content, giving Japex an owned imagery library that reflected the actual standard of the operation rather than category convention.

Paid digital marketing was structured around specific service intents — MOT booking, EV servicing, performance tuning — and a tightly defined geographic catchment around Kings Langley and the surrounding Hertfordshire towns, rather than diluted "mechanic near me" coverage. Organic social ran in parallel to surface completed customer work, technician profiles and seasonal service moments, building local visibility and trust. Google Business Profile and review capture were tightened to support the paid activity.

Stage 03 of 03

The outcome.

A full commissioned brand and marketing photography library was licensed to Japex for continued use across web, social, paid campaigns and printed collateral, alongside a structured digital marketing programme covering paid search, paid social and organic channels. The combined work gave the garage a consistent, credible digital presence that could compete with dealerships on first impressions and stand up to scrutiny once a customer landed on the site.

The marketing programme was handed over with documentation and ongoing support available as required, allowing the in-house team to maintain campaigns without retainer commitment. The photography continues to serve the brand across seasonal campaigns and service-line pushes, and the wider digital programme has supported sustained, high-quality local enquiry volume from across the Hertfordshire catchment the business is built around.
